in September 2008

G33K AL3RT: As requested by Streetfiles member drbff it is now possible to search directly in Streetfiles via your favorite webbrowser: Firefox 2+ or Internet Explorer 7+ (we recommend the first one, sorry no safari) without any plugin.

All you need to do is: point your browser to http://streetfiles.org and go the upper right corner of your browser where your search box is located. Click on the Icon that displays which search engine you want to use. You will get a list and the possibilty to add Streetfiles to that list.

The Streetfiles 'Logo'

in September 2008

As you may have noticed we not only change the tagline in the upper left corner: we also change the 'logo'. We do so not only to be a bit different every day but also not to like look like a 'brand'. A real Tag is always unique.

Here you can see the website with various logos:

Send us your Streetfiles Tags to: hello@streetfiles.org (but please don't mind if it takes a while).

Post your Tagline in our Streetfiles Tagline group.

Streetfiles tagline updated

in September 2008

We just updated the Streetfiles tagline with our favorites from our tagline discussion.

The tagline is the slogan below the logo on the top left that changes randomly. You can join the discussion here.

Everybody is also very welcome to send in black & white tags for the 'logo' to hello@streetfiles.org.

8 days a day

in August 2008
photo by StreetBrother

Streetfiles launched one month ago. We thank all visitors and all members for wasting time with us. Each day about 1000 visitors check out the newest photos of graff and urban art. The average visitor stays about 9 minutes (which is very long for a website). So each day 8 days get spended on Streetfiles, not only like the Beatles mentioned: 8 days a week.

We already have 500 members. About 4000 photos got uploaded in the first 30 days, most of them by members.

Das für investigativen Journalismus bekannte berliner Stadtmagazin Zitty entdeckt den Street Art Hype, zitiert mich als Graffitiopi (richtig!), zeigt Fotos von Just und fragt was eigentlich Street Art sei: Kunst, Vandalismus, oder politischer Kommentar? Naja.

Piclens support [updated]

in August 2008
Piclens (http://www.piclens.com/) is a free Firefox plugin to browse and view all kind of media in a stylish 3d way FULLSCREEN. Streetfiles supports Piclens on certain lists like "new & popular". Please keep on supporting us with feature requests and bug reports (we know there are still a lot of them). Write us a mail or even better post something in the developing corner. [update] We updated the rss feeds a little bit to browse all photos. We really hope traffic won't kill us.

New Stickers

in August 2008
We produced a few new Streetfiles stickers. You tag your name on and promote your name and streetfiles at the same time. These stickers get distributed by stylefile and overkill (thanks).

Susan wrote 'How posting online can get you busted'. We advice: you should read it.

On our website your IP adresses get stored:

  • In the firewall of the server for seven days to protect Streetfiles against hack attacks;
  • In our web analyzer 'Clicky' for a year. We chose Clicky not Google Analytics to be a bit more private;
  • On our own adserver for seven days.

In addition we save each Streetfiles members e-mail address. We have to do so to make sure not to get bombed by spambots. We suggest you use an e-mail address just for this purpose which can not get connected to you personally. You can even change the e-mail address afterwards in a non existing e-mail, whichs is on the other hand not so good, because than you should not forget your password and you will not be notified on anything.

And yes: we use cookies.

We delete all photo metadata (EXIF, IPTC etc) after the upload!

We check each photo before publishing. We will not publish photos which are too hardcore. Streetfiles is about interesting stuff, not about hardcore actions.

You can allways upload photos anonmously without being logged in as a Streetfiles member.

So we try to care about your privacy as much as we can. Please do so too. You can start by NOT saving your login data to Streetfiles in your browser.

We suggest you use an anonymity service like Tor. Read our privacy policy for more info on this topic.
